Moving checklist
There's so much to do before you move home, it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. Keeping track of the things you need to do for your move is the easiest way to keep moving stress to a minimum.
How may we help with your home removal?
If you'd like a copy to put in your organisation box so you can tick off the items as you complete them, you can download the two months before moving checklist. If you prefer to tick off the items as you go electronically, you can also tick the boxes on the file, and save it on your phone, tablet, or computer - no need to print the checklist out unless you prefer to.
Organise
As soon as you know you're moving, buy a journal or notebook and a box file to keep everything related to your move in one place. In the run up to a move, things can get hectic and sometimes a bit chaotic - having all of your notes, contracts, receipts, contact numbers and plans in one spot helps make sure everything runs like clockwork
Declutter
Now is the time to have a clear out - sort through everything in your home and donate, sell, or dispose of anything you don't need or want in your new home. Having fewer items in your home to move can also impact the cost of your removal, so the sooner you tackle this task, the better
Hidden in storage areas
Don't forget the loft, garage, outbuildings, and the under stairs cupboard - you'd be surprised by how much you've got in these out-of-sight and often out-of-mind spots, much of which you may not wish to bring to your new home
Plan your new home's layout
Start thinking about your new home and where your belongings will go inside of it - if you have a floor plan for your new home (or if you can gain access to measure up the rooms), this will help you to decide where to place your furniture - you may also find your current furniture won't fit into your new home, or perhaps it is too small for your new home. This also helps with making decisions about what you'll be disposing of, if the furniture won't fit in your new home!
Furnishing your new home
While you're planning where things may be placed in your new home, also think about the things you'll need to furnish your new home, such as lighting, curtains, blinds, etc in addition to larger items such as floor coverings, laminate flooring and carpeting
Give notice
If you're renting, be sure to give your landlord the notice specified in your lease - and make sure it is in writing if you first notify them by phone or in person
Broadband & utilities
Begin planning new broadband and television services - can you take your current plan and contract with you, or will you choose another company? Now is the time to start making those decisions and plan for your broadband to be set up as close as possible to your moving date
School & nursery
Notify schools and nursery of your leaving date, and make arrangements for your new schools and nursery or other child care and school clubs as early as you can
Insurance
Check your home and contents insurance - is the contents cover at the right level for your belongings? You may want to compare offerings from various companies to ensure you get the best coverage for your new home and belongings - and be sure to have valuable items assessed for insurance purposes
Awkward or difficult to pack items
Identify anything which might be a bit more difficult to pack, needs special protection, or is particularly valuable and be sure to point these items out to the surveyor who comes to estimate your removal costs
Start packing
Start packing those things you don't use and won't be using until you move, such as holiday decorations, winter or summer items (depending on when you're moving, of course), or simply sentimental things which you don't use but will not be disposing of
Change of address
Begin to make a list of all of the companies and people you'll need to notify of your change of address - it is longer than you initially think, and just when you think you're done, there always seems to be another one to add to the list

In the current times you might prefer that we don't visit your house in person to carry out a survey. This is fully understandable and we can just as easily undertake the survey by video call, using whatever method you're comfortable with, usually FaceTime or WhatsApp.

I really can’t thank these guys enough! From my first enquiry with Lynn, needing last minute removals with only 2 days notice, they were able help due to a cancellation. A quick video call with Pam to quote for our needs and all booked in!
The team arrived on the morning, and were absolutely fantastic. I was having drama elsewhere with my car breaking down and being stuck in a garage 40 mile away after dropping 1 of the kids at a college taster day! Yet they had it all under control and I arrived at the new house just in time to wave them off having unloaded all our belongings into specified rooms. They made that side of things totally stress free. Absolutely fantastic crew, brilliant job. Highly recommend. Thanks you so much

Your team were delayed on the way up from Leicester to Aberdeen, yet they were outside our house at 08:45 on the day of delivery. Note the journey was approximately 450 miles and required an overnight stop both up and down
